"rebuilding the navdata cache file" seems like the most likely reason, since I saw a little message in red in the bottom of the FlightGear window about "navigation" or "navdata", but I just tried again and it got to "initializing subsystems" and then crashed. I created the target directory /usr/share/FlightGear/Scenery/Terrasync/ and now conatins three subdiretries named Models, Objects and Terrain. I tried things like leaving off the last / or leaving out the double-quotes, tried both the scenery sets… nothing seems to work, and the verbose option doesn't give me any clues.Ĭuriously, if I enable automatic scenery download/update, I can see the files downloaded, but still don't get any scenery rendered in the FlightGear window. My computer is now running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I installed FlightGear 2.4.0 from the Ubuntu repositories, installed scenery v2.0.0 (13808) from the 3 DVD set I bought a while ago, and also downloaded scenery v2.10 from the torrent last night.
I'm back to FlightGear after a long absence, and a couple of OS upgrades.
